Just a few lines to tell you that I placed "The Fall" on my Netflix list and it arrived yesterday. We viewed the movie last evening and you are so right the settings and costumings are so lush. Is Is this a "Bollywood production"? I know the hospital is suppose to be in L.A. however, all the scenes appear to be in exotic India locals.

The little girl was a welcome delight. I loved the way she skittered back and forth in the hospital.

This wasn't a Bollywood flick. It's TOTALLY independent, which is why it's kind of incredible to see SO many location shots.

It took over four years to shoot, and they traveled to over 20 different countries.
Just an all around fantastic flick that very few people have seen.

Thanks for listening Anon!

I really dug your first episode of Movies You May Have Missed! You guys really work well together - I liked how natural and unforced the conversation seemed. I also liked The Fall, although I felt a little like I watched the most amazing coffee table photography book for 2 hours, rather than a movie :) Totally agree with you guys that that little girl is spectacular. They talked a lot about how she rarely even knew when she was "acting" and when she was not. They hid the cameras and would just talk to her, not telling her when they were rolling. I think the result was remarkable - she stole my heart, too!

Looking forward to when you guys go video. Every time you played a clip I wanted video :)

Hey thanks Jeff!
Lee and I (this is Juan btw) have been friends for a while, so I'm glad some of that is translating!

Yeah The Fall certainly has that picture book quality to it (I know I had to cut several MORE instances of me raving about the cinematography LOL). You really do need to invest, but I think there's a good payoff for that investment.

My favorite story from the director commentary is how they set up guerrilla shots for the little girl, hiding the camera inbetween hanging sheets. It delivers a super natural performance without any of the usual "precocious" we normally see from child actors.

Ugh, we really just bit off more than we could chew on the video episodes, but live and learn right? We'll be getting them out as soon as we can!

Thanks for the comment!

Hey thanks Anon!
We're going to be ALL OVER the place too. Covering classics, indie, maybe even a few silent films.

Keep listening (and hopefully watching soon LOL)!

Love this flick! If you like stuff like Mirrormask or The Cell this is definitely in the same artistic realm. A true sleeper don't miss it. Mick

Finally had some time to sit and watch this film. It was absolutely beautiful! I really enjoyed it and probably would never have seen it otherwise. How else would I have heard of it?

I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I was really taken with it, and if it hadn't been for Lee bringing it to my attention, I don't think I ever would've seen it!

Thanks for the comment!
