Movie Shout Outs - Patriotic?... Responses

Happy July 5TH!

Movie Shout Out Sunday is here again!

Yesterday's question was:

What movie makes you feel patriotic?

As usual we got some great responses. We even heard from our fans outside the US!

Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942)
&
The Pride of the Yankees (1942) ..Though I actually despise the Yankee baseball team.

Independence Day (1996)
"Welcome to Earth!"

I sort of like the movie Miracle (2004), It was patriotic without being jingoistic. It did a great job (albeit with some suspect acting by the actors playing the hockey players) of showing how a group of college kids just wanting to play Olympic hockey were caught up in being the US single combat warriors against the USSR during the height of the Cold War.

Band of Brothers (2001) I know. It's not like a movie movie, but I love it.
A. J. via Facebook

Air Force One (1997)
"Get off my plane!"
David S. via Facebook

Every Die Hard (1988) (1990) (1995) (2007) movie ever made makes me love America.
Kristina via MYMHM comment

Wait, wait! Let me be the one to say The Patriot (2000) first!

Not really a movie, but most episodes of The West Wing (seasons 1 - 4) (1999) A good patriotic speech always brings on a man-cry.

Believe it or not, A Few Good Men (1992)

Independence Day (1996)

Steal This Movie (2000) also caused patriotic, activist-y feelings within my jaded little heart.

Pearl Harbor (2001) &
Glory (1989) &
The Patriot (2000) and more, and more, and more.

Sands of Iwo Jima (1949)
Gary L. via email

John Adams (2008) Also not a theatrical film, but this made me feel so patriotic.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) Yeah it's kinda nerdy, but it's one of those flicks that actually makes me feel like we can make things better. Oh and I'm most certainly NOT talking about the Mel Gibson remake...
Juan from MYMHM

..and from some of our fans in Canada (to which we wish them a belated Happy Canada Day!):

There will be Blood (2007) Makes me happy to be a Canadian more than anything! Happy 4th of July, Guys!

Last Night (1998) makes me pretty darn proud to be a Canuck.

There Will Be Blood was a great movie... it didn't make me feel particularily patriotic, though I am glad to be in a country that releases movies starring Daniel Day-Lewis. GOD, what an actor. "I'm finished...." <--- that gave me chills and made me dance in giddy circles.

I wish he did more, but I kinda hope he doesn't. That kind of commitment to character walks the fine line between awesome and douchebag, but I've always enjoyed his performances.
