19 - 'Man Bites Dog' is a KILLER Flick!
Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 7:51AM For the longest time I thought 'Man Bites Dog' was a French film. Turns out it's Belgian. Shows how continental I am. Anywho, this movie is a true gem, and an incredible achievement in ultra low budget, student film making. Did I mention it's in the Criterion collection?
It's a super dark comedic mockumentary!

@MYMHM FAQ About Time Travel Trailer : http://bit.ly/hQLUP
I never heard of "The IT Crowd", definitely need to check it out.
I'm sure you have either seen this or the whole movie? Are you guys full blown Lars Von Trier's nerds yet?
Lars Von Trier's 'Antichrist' : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmKv_57fOvY

Timo's HD trailers on Miro is where its at.
I'm super stoked for FAQ about time travel, but I would CERTAINLY check out The IT Crowd. One of the best hijinky sitcoms I've ever seen.
I think we're enacting a one year moratorium on Von Trier movies...
THE IT CROWD is amazing. Season 3 just went live on Netflix Watch Instantly today.
Up In The Air : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgAVxYS7c2M
Looks super good, did well at Toronto.
Have you guys seen Coffee and Cigarettes?
Holy Crap IT Crowd DID go up. I know how I'm gonna waste my weekend...
I've been Stoked for up in the air, Resitman has become the festival sweetheart, and I just plain dig Clooney.
I haven't seen Coffee and Cigarettes [runs off to look it up].
It's black/white so you guys will probably love/hate it respectivly. Ha.
Actually, gotta say that this was one we both had on our lists, but didn't realize it until we were a couple episodes in.
I think Lee doesn't hate it because it's modern...
You guys excited for Men Who Stare At Goats too?
Sorry for the George Clooney/Lars Von Trier/Trailer/Brittish Comedy thread jacking, I am working on getting Man Bites Dog and will get back to a reaction to it.
I am stoked for Men who Stare at Goats, but I'm stoked for Up in the Air. No good reason for that, just seem to be leaning that way...
You guys should have a "favorite guilty pleasure movie" movie shout out.
We thought about it. We might start doing them for some supplemental episodes.
I just wanted Lee to know that I, a female fan, has never thought his apartment was creepy. That being said, we've only ever seen one set view of it :P
~Sarah
LOL, well we do tidy it up for him whenever we head down to shoot. I wonder how long I'll be able to make fun of him for this before he reads these comments...
...I'll have you know, I maintain a very tidy apartment. I'll admit, I do employ disparate interior design and large poster of dog's playing poker, but I still think I come up well shy of creepy.
In some of the older episodes (at least one by memory) it seemed like the cups were empty, do you always have liquid inside them?
Also is your apartment creepy or just the amount of people/foot traffic outside it is creepy?
Always have liquid of some sort. My throat dries out pretty easily.
Though we usually have some kind of alcohol in there... Primer was the best because we were already drunk on a bottle of wine before we shot. Marie had to work overtime to get us to focus and shoot LOL...
Love the ep guys. It felt so myserious in the dark.
You guys making drinking look so classy. You should try drinking Natty Ice next time and see what sort of reaction it elicits.
We prolly wont be doing many more night shoots. Lighting was a bitch...
Natty Ice you say AxisofPhilippe?
We might need to try that...
